残念なことに、池田大作先生が日蓮の生まれ変わりであることはあまり知られていない。
それについてこんなエピソードがある。
昭和52年に池田先生が千葉の清澄寺（日蓮が幼少の頃に修学した寺）を訪れた際、
千年杉に向かい木肌を撫でながら、「久しぶりだね。700年ぶりだねぇ」と呟いた。
（※この千年杉の樹齢はまだ約250年であった。）
